Website Accessibility Policy

Signwaves is committed to making its website as accessible as possible to all users and does not wish to discriminate against anyone with a disability. Access to the website service is in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

To achieve this, our website has been developed in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines have been published by the World Wide Web Consortium to promote accessibility.

The techniques we have used to improve accessibility are as follows:

Use of Stylesheets

We have used stylesheets to control the visual elements of the website.

Text Size

This site uses only relative font sizes and therefore is compatible with the user-specified text size option in visual browsers. The text size can be changed through the settings > Font Size menu in your browser menu.

Alt Text

All images that are used to illustrate content include the alt attribute to provide descriptive text alternatives.

Link Titles

A title attribute has been added to links which describe the link in greater detail. If the text of the link provides a clear explanation of the 'target' then the title attribute has not been used.

Site Features

  • Consistent navigation
  • Scalable text
  • Clearly labelled graphics and image maps
  • No flickering or strobing graphics
  • Cross browser compatible

Web Standards

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout and is built to W3C standards. The CSS is valid and the site has been built with guidance to the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 level A.

Browser Compatibility

We test all our sites in all modern browsers on Windows, MacOSX and Linux. All pages on this site use structured semantic markup.

If your browser or browsing device does not support modern coding techniques, the content of each page is still readable and is presented in a logical order.
