The Power of Pavement Signs
What began as a typical work experience placement has flourished into a small but perfectly formed example of the power of pavement signs...
It’s early summer (you may need to use your imagination…) and 16-year-old student Ben is preparing for his two week work experience placement with a local hospital. At the last minute, that all-too-familiar of dark clouds - red tape - negates the arrangement but thanks to a friend of a friend (of a friend!), Ben’s silver lining came in the form of a last minute opportunity with, you guessed it, yours truly.
Somewhere between re-designing the company car park and sketching ideas for our staff recreation area, Ben was busy designing graphics for his own Ecoflex pavement sign, choosing ‘Shmoo’ milk shakes, which a friend of his sells to thirsty sun-seekers at a local beach side cafe.
An informal email to Ben in the week following his work experience was returned with reports of a remarkable development - thanks to the 'silent salesman' he took away with him, the beach front 'shake shack' was busier than ever.
Not content with that, one Ecoflex became three, each purposefully positioned at key vantage points 15 metres from the cafe, helpfully pointing pedestrians in the right direction. Over the coming months, an incredible 100% + uplift in milk shake sales was achieved - indisputable proof, if it was needed, of the power of pavement signs.
We are extremely pleased - and amazed frankly! - by the impact that these simple and inexpensive signs have had on our business.
It has really opened our eyes to the potential of pavement signage for effective promotion and I'm already thinking about how we can exploit it further next summer.
I would highly recommend pavement signs to any retailer looking to increase footfall and sales.
