Whilst many of us were nice and warm, sat around the telly, opening presents and consuming more than our fair share of food and drink, our CEO Mark and HR Director Lynn spent their Christmas day rather differently…
Undeterred by the torrential rain, they (along with their two sons and some 200 others) took part in the 35th Lowestoft Christmas Day Swim, cheered on by over 1,000 spectators. The event, organised by Splash 4 Cash, raises money exclusively for local charities.
And it’s a sport of which Mark is something of a veteran…
“In the 35 years the event has been running, I have missed no more than 5 or 6 and was one of the 10 or so swimmers from Lowestoft’s Denes High School 6th Form which made up the first ever swim in 1977.
“Lynn has joined me on and off over the years and from the age of 9 and 11 our two sons have been part of the action – all of us now agreeing that Christmas Day wouldn’t be the same without an icy dip in the North Sea and raising money for much needed local good causes!”
In a previous year, Mark was persuaded (quite easily, it must be said) to take the plunge in a lime green Borat mankini (but we won't subject you to that!).
